Issues received heated on the United Nations on Saturday throughout a gathering of the Safety Council marking the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Poland’s Overseas Minister Radoslaw Sikorski rebuked a Russian ambassador for mendacity concerning the state of the battle, Ukraine’s management, and the risk Russia poses to the area.
In a robust four-minute speech, Sikorski provided a “helpful” correction of the file. “Ambassador [Vasily] Nebenzya has known as Kyiv the shoppers of the West,” Sikorski stated. “Really, Kyiv is preventing to be impartial of anyone. He calls them a prison Kyiv regime. In reality, Ukraine has a democratically elected authorities. He calls them Nazis. Effectively, the president is Jewish. The protection minister is Muslim, and so they don’t have any political prisoners. He stated that Ukraine was wallowing in corruption. Effectively, Aleksei Navalny documented how trustworthy and stuffed with probity his personal nation is.”
That sardonic beat about Navalny was particularly poignant after the Russian opposition chief’s demise in a Russian jail in mid-February, for which the Biden administration blames the Kremlin.
Sikorski went on: “He stated that we’re prisoners of Russophobia,” Sikorski continued. “‘Phobia’ means irrational concern. But we’re being threatened nearly day by day by the previous president of Russia and by Putin propagandists with nuclear annihilation. I put to you that it’s not irrational. When Russia threatens us, we belief it.”
He concluded with a problem to Russia’s navy prowess: “[Nebenzya] is saying that we, the West, are by some means making an attempt to influence that Russia can by no means be crushed. Effectively, Russia didn’t win the Crimean Battle, it didn’t win the Russo-Japanese battle, it didn’t win World Battle I, it didn’t win the Battle of Warsaw, it didn’t win in Afghanistan, and it didn’t win the Chilly Battle.”
“They didn’t subjugate us then. They are going to fail to subjugate Ukraine, and us, now.”
The total speech is value your time. Watch it beneath:
